Crochet Shell Tank

This is one of my own designs. Using a basic shell stitch and incorporating strawberry lace with a simple picot trim and vintage buttons.

I started this from the top down. The bust is made in two separate pieces, then the back is made and sewn to the front. The shoulder straps are then added. Before adding the lace, I worked a row of sc & hdc to make a straight edge, then did a sc all around. The lace was added, followed by another strip of shell pattern, which was straightened out in two rows before adding the final lace strip and final shell section.

The buttons were added last followed by a bottom edge with picots.

It was done entirely in size 10 crochet cotton (natural) and a size 1 steel hook.

This was finished with grey, dusty blue fabric dye.

  1. Beautiful pattern! I’m wondering if it’s possible to leave out the “lace” sections and simply do the shell pattern throughout? It’s beautiful as is, of course, just thinking that it may also be nice that way šŸ™‚
