Irish Crochet Motif – Parasol

La Petite Parasol by Ann Reillet

Made in sections and sewn together, this parasol motif measures approx 2 3/4″ in. or 7 1/2 mm. Materials used: size 30 crochet thread with #10 hook, size 3 padding cord with #1 hook, sewing thread/needle and scissors.

The main piece is a 2 1/4″ ch-4 trellis circle with 1/4″ shell trim.  The undercarriage is padding cord in a 6 legged star. This is sewn to the back side with centers lined up. The top stem and handle are sc over padding cord. This was sewn in after shaping. To shape, pin on blocking board then let sit in a narrow vase neck. Once the desired shape is achieved, sew the parasol closed and add a decorative bow or other embellishment.
