Crochet Thread Child Bolero

Viva La Bolero!

Child Bolero

A bolero or shrug is a cropped, cardigan-like garment with short or long sleeves, covering less of the body than a vest, but more tailored than a shawl. A bolero jacket, inspired by the matador’s chaquetilla is essentially a short fitted jacket meeting at one point in the front with a closure consisting of a hook-and-eye, button, or tie.

This is a motif pattern called “Elegance for Evening” available online free at:

I used size 20 thread with a No. 10 steel hook to fit a child size 3. It would look lovely with decorative yarn and lace trim. I added a crochet collar and made the closure a hook-and-eye clasp, but a fancy button would look nice.
